2- In Process-Needs work to meet its potential
1- Starting Point- Concept is there, needs substantial work to meet its potential

- Does the poet use language that supports the poem’s meaning or mood?
- Does the author employ effective metaphor?
- Does the poet use sensory details that contribute significantly to the poem?
- Does the poet use line breaks effectively to emphasize words or phrases, control the pace of the poem, or follow the rules of the form?
- Is the rhythm deliberate, whether structured or free-verse?
- Does the structure or flow add to the overall impact of the work?
- Is the punctuation meaningful and consistent? if absent, is that effective?
- Does the work evoke strong emotions?
- Does the work inspire reflection in the reader?
- Candidly assess the total impact of this poem.
